AceShowbiz - Actress Laurel Griggs has died, aged 13, following a "massive asthma attack."

The teenager passed away on November 5, and was laid to rest on Thursday in New York City.

Her grandfather David B. Rivlin told the New York Post the young star was rushed to hospital but could not be revived.

"It's with heavy heart that I have to share some very sad news. My beautiful and talented granddaughter, Laurel Griggs, has passed away suddenly from a massive asthma attack. Mount Sinai (hospital) was valiant in trying to save her but now she's with the angels."

Griggs made her Broadway debut at the age of six in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", opposite Scarlett Johansson, Ciaran Hinds and Benjamin Walker and she went on to join the cast of the musical "Once", in which she played the role of Ivanka for 17 months.

In addition to theatre, Laurel also made several appearances on "Saturday Night Live" and on the animated series "Bubble Guppies". She also starred in the 2016 romantic comedy-drama "Cafe Society", alongside Steve Carell, Kristen Stewart, Blake Lively, Parker Posey and Jesse Eisenberg.

Donations can be made to nonprofit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS in her memory as it's a cause the young star supported.
