The 52-year-old, who has thrilled tourists by posing as Clark Kent's alter ego for the past 25 years, was attempting to gather clothes when he died. His body was discovered on Saturday, November 02, according to TMZ sources.

According to a Kickstarter campaign, Dennis was left homeless after becoming the victim of a recent assault. He was looking for a permanent residence at the time of his death.

Officials at the Super Museum in Metropolis, Illinois, have paid tribute to Dennis, writing: "We want to take a moment to extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Christopher Dennis, better known as Hollywood Superman. We've just received word of his passing."

"Chris has had many struggles and ups and downs over the years. We hope that he is at peace now. And we pray for comfort to those who loved and cared about him."

Dennis appeared in the documentary "Confessions of a Superhero".
