AceShowbiz - Meghan King Edmonds' estranged husband Jim Edmonds was pictured with just their nanny Carly Wilson before news of their alleged affair surfaced. Meghan and Jim split after five years of marriage amid rumors that he cheated on her with Carly, which both Jim and Carly have denied.
In one photo shared by an Instagram user, Jim was taking a selfie at a gym while Carly was working out behind him. "I'm trying to get it in while @nannycarly_ is getting after it!" the former athlete captioned the snap which was first posted last summer.
In two other pictures taken just last week, Jim and Carly were seen attending a hockey game. The two appeared to be trying to keep a low profile, with both of them wearing black baseball caps. Jim and Carly were photographed without the presence of Jim's wife Meghan or his other family members in both occasions.
Despite the photos that seem to point out at the cheating accusations, Jim's daughter Hayley Edmonds has defended her father. Speaking to Us Weekly about the split, the 22-year-old slammed Meghan and suggested that her father being separated from the former "The Real Housewives of Orange County" star is the best for him.
"I've been waiting for it. For probably ... three years?" she said. "I think it's impossible to be happy with someone so ... I don't know if I would say narcissistic but, she, like, creates her own problems and loves conflict and things like that. The selfishness is miserable for anyone to be around, let alone to be married to her. My whole family has grown closer because we have all had to stay silent in hopes to protect my dad and no one can do it anymore."
Describing the Edmonds staff as "family," Hayley called the affair accusations with caretaker Carly "disturbing." She went on defending the nanny, "Especially the way that she treated Carly is mind-blowing to me because she holds herself to very high moral standards and she is a great girl who moved to St. Louis across the country because she loves those kids. And it's just I mean absolutely ludicrous I would say. I can't even ... I keep saying I'm shocked, but I'm not surprised at the way that she goes after people so ruthlessly."
"I think this whole publicity thing with Meghan just ruined his reputation and it's really sad to see because he was an amazing athlete and he held himself to morally high standards and just a great guy so it sucks to see," she added of the drama surrounding Jim and Meghan's split. "Everyone that cares about him is proud that he finally took the leap of leaving her. It really just pisses me off ... She's got the following and she has the public. We've always been a really private family. None of us wanted any of this. We all just want to live our own lives."
Jim himself has once again dispelled the cheating allegations. In an Instagram post shared on Monday, October 28, the Fox Sports broadcaster wrote, "It's one thing to be accused of something. It's another thing to be so negligent and so careless, and ruin the lives of innocent young people."
"I did not sleep with our nanny," he insisted, adding, "She's not just a nanny, she is someone that we brought into our house and promised to protect and look after while she was in our home. We have been treating and raising this young girl like she is our own child!"
Jim continued, "For someone to accuse me of sleeping with her is not only wrong, it's disgusting and irresponsible. Just because I am an athlete and I was portrayed as a bad person on bravo TV. Doesn't mean I dont have a clue what life is all about. We made a promise to that young girls mom, that We would take care of her and make sure that she was safe while she was in our hands."
Appearing to slam his estranged wife, the former MLB player wrote, "I will not sit here and take this bulls**t without fighting back. Just because you're extremely whitty and intelligent, and know how to play the Instagram game. Doesn't give you the right to use that platform to wrongfully accuse."
Carly herself took to her Instagram page to deny the affair rumors. "In the past week, allegations have been made about me which are not based in fact. I have not and never would participate in any action involving infidelity. I consider this a private matter in someone else's marriage and will not comment on it further. I wish the entire family well," she wrote, along with a picture that read, "Be kind."
