Music

Not only having a rough, powerful voice that can melt anyone's hearts, but the One Direction member also has a real talent in songwriting that has been proven by his critically-acclaimed music.

AceShowbiz - Harry Styles isn't just your pretty boy who happens to be a member of a popular boy group. Not only having a rough, powerful voice with a large vocal range that can melt those who listen to his singing, but he also has a real talent in songwriting that is backed by his love for classic rock songs. An example of that can be seen through his self-titled debut solo album, which has received critical acclaim for music critics.

Two years after the release of the effort, Harry has returned to the music industry to prove that classic rock isn't the only genre that can pull off well. Leaving behind the 70s rock influences of his debut album, the British heartthrob traded it for a more soulful territory through his latest single "Lights Up". Described as a song that is "all about sex and feeling sad," the new track also gained praises from critics and garnered positive responses from fans.

For instance, Laura Snapes of The Guardian praised the song's production, calling it the "sophisticated production and conspicuous vintage elements," adding that his evolution as a solo musician "remains captivating." Meanwhile, Craig Jenkins of Vulture dubbed the song "a breezy tune for the start of hoodie weather and an encouraging sentiment for a day about celebrating what makes all unique."

On the chart itself, "Lights Up" has been off to a good start. It debuted at No. 17 on Billboard's Hot 100, giving the musician his second top 20 single on the chart following "Sign of the Times". The song additionally arrived at No. 13 on Billboard's Streaming Songs chart with 21.5 million streams in its first week, surpassing "Sign of the Times" 16.5 million first-week streams.

"Lights Up" will be included in Harry's upcoming sophomore album, which still doesn't have a release date nor a title.
