High-profiled Hollywood stars including Katy's actor fiance Orlando Bloom have helped raise multimillion dollars for the new virtual reality startup using motion capture technology.

AceShowbiz - Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Will Smith, and Orlando Bloom are among the stars who have invested in new Hong Kong-based virtual reality startup Sandbox.

The stars have teamed with bosses at the company to help raise $83 million for the venture, with the help of Hollywood super-agent and Creative Artists Agency co-founder Michael Ovitz.

"We're incredibly honoured to be able to work with some of the most talented and influential artists, athletes, and actors in the world," said Sandbox CEO and founder Steve Zhao. "Their support is a vote of confidence that our platform will one day become the new medium for the future of sports, music, and storytelling."

Sandbox uses motion capture technology to create immersive virtual reality experiences.
