In a statement about the family comedy series, Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins gushes that the network 'can't wait to introduce the talented 10-year-old and his new show to their audience.'

AceShowbiz - Tyler Perry has made a young rapper's dreams of stardom come true by developing a new Nickelodeon series for him.

Young Dylan, 10, has become a regular on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", and Perry was impressed by the kid's talent and personality during one appearance - and when he heard of the youngster's TV dreams, he decided to make something happen.

The actor and filmmaker has teamed up with Nickelodeon bosses to create a new show around the aspiring rap star, and he surprised Young Dylan, real name Dylan Gilmer, on Ellen's show on Wednesday, October 02.

"I love creating comedy television and can't wait to work with the talented Young Dylan," Perry, who will write the new show, says in a statement.

The project revolves around a family who take in a nephew, who is an aspiring hip-hop star.

"It's a thrill to bring this new series to Nickelodeon from the incredibly talented and prolific Tyler Perry, whose track record speaks for itself," Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins tells Deadline. "Dylan is an incredibly talented 10 year old, who at heart is a relatable kid making his dreams happen. We know kids are going to love watching Dylan and we can't wait to introduce him and his new show to our audience."

Dylan is not new to Nickelodeon - he recently shot a guest appearance on the revival of hit kids series "All That".

Meanwhile, Perry was in Los Angeles for DeGeneres' show after unveiling the latest star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday.
