The idea of a reboot of the one of hit comedy shows in TV history is indeed interesting, but it leaves a huge question whether or not the original cast members will return to reprise their respective characters.

AceShowbiz - NBC is reportedly looking to make a reboot of one of its popular comedy series, "The Office". The network reveals that should the plan go through, the potential reboot will be heading to NBCUniversal's upcoming streaming service.
"It is my hope and goal that we do an 'Office' reboot," Bonnie Hammer, chairman of direct-to-consumer and digital enterprises at NBC, told Deadline. " 'The Office' comes back to us in January 2021. It is my hope that we can figure what that great reboot would be. We are having conversations."
The Peacock network reportedly spent $500 million on securing the exclusive rights to the hit series, which is currently streaming on Netflix but will be back to NBC in the beginning of 2021. Of the reboot plans, Hammer continued saying, "We will be looking at all of them down the road and see what makes the most sense. When we see what the usage is on the service, if something is popping, and it’s ours, you better believe that we are going to be looking at it as a new original."

One actor that fans will be thrilled to return is Steve Carell, who played leading role of Michael Scott for seven of the show's nine seasons.
The actor, however, previously said that he wasn't interested in reprising the character. "I'll tell you, no," Carell told Collider last year about a "The Office" reboot. "The show is way more popular now than when it was on the air. I just can't see it being the same thing, and I think most folks would want it to be the same thing, but it wouldn’t be. Ultimately, I think it's maybe best to leave well enough alone and just let it exist as what it was."
"You'd literally have to have all of the same writers, the same producers, the same directors, and the same actors, and even with all of those components, it just wouldn't be the same. So, no," he added. "But, I love the show. It was the most exciting time, and all of those people are my friends. We all love it. It was a special thing. It was a special thing before people thought it was a special thing. It was special to us, before other people started feeling that way. But, no."
