The new report further suggests that the new prequel will be based on the 'Fire and Blood' book by George R.R. Martin and has been in the works in the network since last fall.

AceShowbiz - Another spin-off series set in the universe of popular show "Game of Thrones" is reportedly being developed on HBO. According to Deadline, the network is close to giving a pilot order to a prequel series which will be focusing of House Targaryen.

The site claims that the planned project based of the hit fantasy series is set 300 years before the events in "Game of Thrones" and will be exploring the beginning of the end for House Targaryen. It will hail from author and "Game of Thrones" co-executive producer George R.R. Martin and "Colony" co-creator/executive producer Ryan Codal, who will pen the project.

The new report further suggests that the new prequel will be based on the "Fire & Blood" book by Martin. Sources claim that it is not a sixth prequel based on "Game of Thrones". Instead, it allegedly is a new take on a world originally tackled by Bryan Cogman in one of the five GoT prequel scripts commissioned by HBO in 2017. Back in April, Cogman revealed that his prequel pitch was not going forward.

HBO reportedly has been working on the project since last fall. The network, however, declines to comment on the report.

Meanwhile, Martin previously hinted at a prequel project centering on the House Targaryen. "We have had five different Game of Thrones successor shows in development at HBO, and three of them are still moving forward nicely," he wrote on his blog in May. "Two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer. What are they about? I cannot say. But maybe some of you should pick up a copy of Fire & Blood and come up with your own theories."

Fans believed that Martin was dropping clues for a House Targaryen prequel since the book, which first volume was published last November, was named after House Targaryen's words. The tagline reads, "300 Years Before a Game of Thrones, Dragons Ruled Westeros."

One of the prequels is starring Naomi Watts and is written by Jane Goldman. The pilot was filmed this summer and is now awaiting decision whether or not it will be picked up to a series. The prequel allegedly will be set 5000 years before the events of the original show, way before the predate Valyria, where House Targaryen raises their dragons, exists.
