AceShowbiz - Miley Cyrus broke down in tears while performing at a star-studded tribute to late celebrity hairstylist Oribe Canales on Tuesday night, September 10.

The "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker took the stage at New York's Lincoln Center to salute Canales with a heartfelt rendition of "You Are My Sunshine", and it was clear she was struggling to contain her emotions as she began the song.

"Oribe always told me fashion people don't like to sing, but I hope you'll join me," she said.

According to Page Six, the singer also told the New York Fashion Week crowd that her late friend and styilst once provided her ailing grandmother with a wig after she started to lose her hair.

Among those in attendance were models Veronica Webb and Christy Turlington, Broadway star Bernadette Peters, fashion photographer Bruce Weber, and actress Stephanie Seymour.

Canales was 62 when she passed away in December (18).
