Fronting the October issue of Elle U.K., the 'Carnival Row' actress admits she doesn't want people to think she is 'ashamed' over her love for the 'Pretty Little Liars' star by being secretive.

The "Carnival Row" actress stars on the cover of the October issue of Elle U.K. magazine. And speaking to the publication, she opened up about her "incredible" relationship with the "Pretty Little Liars" actress.
"I'm just better when I'm in love. That doesn't have to mean with someone. It can also mean with myself," the 27-year-old shared. "It just feels incredible when you're not alone, when you're facing the world with someone else."
The star also reflected on her relationship playing out in the public eye and confessed that, although she initially tried to keep the union low-key, she didn't want people to think she is "ashamed" or not "proud" of her 29-year-old lover.
"I don't want to be so secretive that people think I'm ashamed of anything. But I've never been in a relationship where things are so public, or where I posted pictures of someone else," the "Suicide Squad" star continued. "This seemed different. We had gotten to the point where we had kept it a secret, or at least not wanted attention, and now I feel like I'm not going to not be proud."
The actresses have been dating for a year, but only officially went public with their romance in June by sharing a steamy clip of themselves kissing in their movie "Her Smell" on Instagram.
