The British actor, best known for his portrayal of Jon Snow on the hit HBO series, is rumored landing a role in one of Marvel and Kevin Feige's big superhero franchises.

AceShowbiz - Kit Harington may be heading to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his character Jon Snow was last seen walking beyond The Wall into the forest in the series finale of "Game of Thrones". The British actor is reported to join one of the biggest superhero film franchises headed by Kevin Feige.

Deadline was the first to report the news, but the site couldn't get more details about the role which Harington has landed or which movie he will star in. The news outlet speculates that more info about the 32-year-old's involvement in the MCU might be revealed this weekend during the D23 Expo in Anaheim.

Should the report be true, Harington will be following in the footsteps of his former "Game of Thrones" co-star Richard Madden, who has been cast in an upcoming movie from Marvel Studios, "The Eternals". The "Bodyguard" actor, who played Jon Snow's brother Robb Stark on the hit HBO series, will star as Ikaris, an ancient Greek hero with special mental abilities.

He is joining the likes of Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Brian Tyree Henry, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff and Don Lee a.k.a. Ma Dong Seok in the cast. Jolie will portray Thena, a hero with superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability, agility and reflexes, while Hayek will play Ajak, a character who can manipulate her cellular makeup, giving them superstrength and healing powers.

Harington's last big-screen project is "How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World", released in February of this year, in which he voices a former dragon hunter named Eret. He's also featured in the predecessor, 2014's "How to Train Your Dragon 2".

Harington, who is married to his "Game of Thrones" on-screen love interest Rose Leslie, had a rough time following the end of the medieval drama series. He checked into a wellness retreat in May to work on some "personal issues." Sources said the show's ending "really hit him hard," and he was seeking treatment at a luxury Connecticut retreat.

"He realised this is it - this is the end; it was something they had all worked so hard on for so many years. He had a moment of, what next?" one of the sources said at the time. "He's in the clinic predominantly for stress and exhaustion... His wife Rose (Leslie) is being extremely supportive. Everyone close to him really wanted him to get some rest. Right now, he just needs peace and quiet." He checked out of the facility in June.
