The couple's decision to go with private jet, which generates an estimated 7 times more emissions per person than commercial flights, raises people's eyebrows since they're vocal about their support for environmental causes.

AceShowbiz - Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are currently busy traveling around Europe for their royal engagements. Recently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were pictured arriving in the south of France, and it wouldn't be an issue should they weren't traveling on a private plane for the third time in the summer alone.

According to a new report, the royal couple generated an estimated seven times more emissions per person than commercial jet when they flew to Nice on Wednesday, August 14. In the photos that circulated online, Meghan opted for a white blouse and cream sun hat. Her baby wore a cream and navy striped jumper, while Harry was seen in a green polo shirt and a cap.

The photos arrived two days after the pair, who were joined by their 3-month-old Archie during the trip, headed to the U.K. from Ibiza using the 12-seater Cessna aircraft. It is said that Meghan and Harry had been traveling on the private jet for the third time in just eight days. The aircraft allegedly cost more than £20,000 to hire, while commercial flights from London airports to Nice each Wednesday cost as little as £100 for a return.

The couple's decision to go with private jet was raising people's eyebrows since they were vocal about their support for environmental causes. Labour MP Teresa Pearce admitted she was "surprised" by the couple's jet-setting. "Given the position they have taken publicly about being responsible on climate change, this does seem an anomaly which they should look at," she said. "I find this quite surprising because it doesn't fit with their public image and the way they're so concerned about the planet and the environment."

"Frankly it's hypocritical," said Ken Wharfe, a former royal protection officer who guarded Princess Diana. "Harry can't be preaching about the catastrophic effects of climate change while jetting around the world on a private plane."

The palace has yet to comment on the matter.
