Words are the 'Crazy Rich Asians' star would take a completely different part rather than reprising her 'Captain Marvel' role of Minn-Erva, making her one of only a few actor who play two different characters in MCU.

AceShowbiz - Gemma Chan may be added to Marvel's "The Eternals". The actress, who has already starred in another movie "Captain Marvel" from the studio, is reportedly in talks to join the star-studded cast of the upcoming movie.

Chan's role is currently unknown, but sources tell Variety that she will be playing an entirely different character rather than reprising her "Captain Marvel" role of Minn-Erva. Should this be true, she will be one of only a few stars who have two different roles in Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Other actors who play two different roles in MCU are Paul Bettany (as Vision and as the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S.), Sean Gunn (as Kraglin and doing the motion-capture for Rocket in "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies), Alfre Woodard (cameo appearance as Miriam Sharpe in "Captain America: Civil War" and as Mariah Stokes in Netflix's series "Luke Cage") as well as Mahershala Ali ("Luke Cage" and the title character in upcoming "Blade" remake).

Around the same time news about Chan's possible involvement in "The Eternals" broke, it's reported by Collider that Irish actor Barry Keoghan, who stars on HBO's "Chernobyl", is also in negotiations to star in the Chloe Zhao-directed movie. His role is still unknown too.

Meanwhile, the confirmed cast members of the movie include Angelina Jolie as Thena, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Korean actor Don Lee a.k.a. Ma Dong Seok as Gilgamesh.

Based on Marvel comic created by Jack Kirby in 1976, "The Eternals" is about near-immortal beings the Eternals and their more gargantuan antagonists the Deviants, who were created by the cosmic beings called Celestials. The Celestials experimented on humans creating both races of immortal spinoffs.
