As the guest editor for the September 2019 issue of British Vogue, the Duchess of Sussex explains that the 'Forces for Change' edition is about the power of the collective.

AceShowbiz - Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, recalled the "special time" of being pregnant with son Archie in her editor's letter for the September 2019 issue of British Vogue, which she guest edited.

The 37-year-old royal and her husband Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, welcomed their first child on May 6. Since then, Meghan has rarely spoken about the tot, but opened up about her pregnancy and impending parenthood in the letter.

"I was about five months pregnant when this process began, and by the time you hold this issue in your hands, my husband and I will be holding our three-month-old baby boy in ours," she wrote. "It's a very special time for me personally, on so many levels; working with Edward (Enniful, editor-in-chief) and his team, both during my pregnancy and my maternity leave, has played no small part in that joy – it has been a privilege to be welcomed and supported by this amazing team."

The edition, one of the year's most anticipated releases, features 15 women labelled "Forces for Change", including model and activist Adwoa Aboah, actresses Laverne Cox, Jane Fonda, and Salma Hayek, and former supermodel Christy Turlington.

"More than anything, this issue is about the power of the collective," Meghan continued in her letter. "In identifying our personal strengths, it is anchored in the knowledge that we are even stronger together. You will find that spirit of inclusivity on the cover: diverse portraiture of women of varying age, colour, creed, nationality and life experience, and of unquestionable inspiration."

Meanwhile, "Orange is the New Black" star Laverne admitted she only found out about Meghan's involvement in the September issue when she received a call from Edward last week, who told her he had someone on the phone for her - before putting the Duchess through.

"She was so lovely," Laverne told People. "She just thanked me for being an inspiration and to keep it up. I did tell her I had been a fan of 'Suits' since the beginning - I had been a fan of hers since then. I just loved her on the show. She just said, 'Awww.' She seemed surprised."

The issue hits newsstands on Friday, August 2.
