The 'Ocean's 8' actress, who has appeared in all eighth season of the FX anthology series, previously hinted at her not being a part of '1984' when she claimed she knew nothing about the plot.

AceShowbiz - It seems like upcoming season 9 of "American Horror Story" will not feature one of the the series regulars. If a report from Variety is to be believed, Sarah Paulson may not be starring in the new season of FX's anthology series titled "American Horror Story: 1984".

A source allegedly reveals to the site that the "Ocean's 8" star will not appear in a significant role in the new season. However, the actress may be featured in a cameo capacity considering that she's among cast members who have been featured heavily on the anthology series.

First appeared on "Murder House" in 2011, Paulson has been starring in all eight seasons of the Ryan Murphy series. She most recently reprised her "American Horror Story: Murder House" character Billie Dean Howard and "American Horror Story: Coven" character Cordelia Goode in addition to new character Wilhemina Venable in "American Horror Story: Apocalypse". Also starring returning cast members including Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Dylan McDermott and Angela Bassett, the eighth season served as a crossover between the first and third seasons of the series.

Paulson previously hinted at her not being a part of "1984" when she claimed that Murphy was keeping her in the dark over the plot. When asked about her involvement, she said, "All I can say is I know the least about this season upcoming that I've known about any season. I don't even know... yeah, that's all I can say."

If the new report is true, Paulson will not be the only series regular who will skip "1984". Back in April, Evan Peters revealed during a red carpet interview at WonderCon 2019 that he would also skip the new season. When asked if he was involved with the upcoming season, he replied pretty quickly, "No, I'm going to sit a season out." Also not returning is Billy Eichner, who appeared on "American Horror Story: Cult" and "American Horror Story: Apocalypse".

Nor FX and Murphy has shared details about season 9, though it's known that Olympian Gun Kenworthy will be joining the cast for the season. He is reportedly set to play the boyfriend to Roberts' character. Lily Rabe and Bates, meanwhile, are expected to return.

"American Horror Story: 1984" is set to premiere on September 18 on FX. Ahead of its premiere, the network renewed the show for a tenth season on August 3, 2018 which is scheduled to air sometime in 2020. The season will seemingly feature the witches from "American Horror Story: Coven" and "American Horror Story: Apocalypse".
