AceShowbiz - "12 Years a Slave" actor Anwan Glover is facing a misdemeanour weapons charge following an arrest last month (June 2019).
The 47-year-old was pulled over by traffic police in Washington, D.C. on June 26 after his white Jeep reportedly matched the description of a vehicle authorities had been on the look out for, amid reports of a man brandishing a gun out of the window.
Glover caught officers' attention for reportedly failing to signal while making multiple lane changes, and they carried out a search of the car, citing probable cause.
They allegedly found an unregistered, loaded handgun in the vehicle, and placed Glover under arrest for unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to court papers obtained by TMZ, the actor denied any knowledge of the gun, and argued cops had pulled him over for no reason, as his Jeep was nothing like the vehicle they were on high alert for.
His lawyers recently filed a motion to have Glover released on bail immediately so he could continue working to support his family, but the judge overseeing his case didn't agree with the urgency of the matter, leaving him to spend the weekend behind bars.
Another hearing was due to take place on Monday, July 08.
