AceShowbiz - J. Cole has always been private about his personal life. But sometimes the rapper opts to give fans an insight into his life through his music, just like what he did when he released his compilation project "Revenge of the Dreamers III" on Thursday, July 4. On one of the songs off the album, Cole reveals that he's currently expecting his second child with wife Melissa Heholt.
The "Middle Child" rapper makes the revelation on the album's closing track "Sacrifice", that finds teaming up with EARTHGANG, Smino and Saba. He raps on the song, "She gave me the gift of my son and plus we got one of the way." Cole doesn't give further details like the sex of the baby or when Melissa is due, though.
It's unknown when Cole and Melissa tied the knot, though the "KOD" rapper revealed that he's married in an interview with director Ryan Coogler back in 2016. Cole announced that he and the Dreamville Foundation executive director have a son through his 2016 album "4 Your Eyez Only".
Back in April 2018, Cole opened up about his marriage life in a rare interview with Vulture, sharing the parenting advice that he got from Dave Chappelle. "He said: 'You'll hit another gear, you'll hit a gear that you never knew you had when you have kids.' It actually proved to be true," Cole said at the time.
He later said of his wife, "I'm a f***ing successful rapper, who can literally at the drop of a hat go anywhere do anything, have made adventures. But there was no better decision I could have made than the discipline I put on myself of having responsibility, having another human being -- my wife -- that I have to answer to. Family can literally be the thing you always needed, bring balance and meaning and fuel your creativity, give you purpose."
