The Duke and Duchess of Sussex release the details of the upcoming christening event for their baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor through a statement from Buckingham Palace.

AceShowbiz - After long speculation, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have confirmed that their baby Archie Harrison will be christened at the Queen's private chapel in Windsor Castle on Saturday, July 6. They release the details of the highly-anticipated event through a statement from Buckingham Palace.

"Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will be christened in a small private ceremony by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday, 6th July," read the statement. "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex look forward to sharing some images taken on the day by photographer Chris Allerton."

Through the statement, the royal couple also shared that they would not reveal Archie's godparents. "The godparents, in keeping with their wishes, will remain private," said the statement. This is different from what Prince William and Kate Middleton did with their kids since the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge revealed the identities of their children's godparents to the general public.

Harry and Meghan faced backlash after it was reported that they were planning to make the christening ceremony a private event. "Private Christening but publicly funded," one Twitter user wrote. "Demanding a private christening? Funny, they're living on the tax payer's dime...maybe relinquish that and you can make privacy demands, until them, go fly a kite," another added.

"So Hazza and Megs want a private christening. They are either private or Royal. They cannot be both. Hope they realise as private individuals they need to pay for their own security and the taxpayer rent for their home or get a mortgage to buy it. That's private for you," another comment read. "This is all fine. As long as we don't pay for him. You can't have it both ways. If you are private citizens dont't expect to be publicly funded," tweeted another person.
