AceShowbiz - Many people were wishing Missy Elliott a happy birthday on Monday, July 1, including her fellow hip-hop musician Nas. But what made the "I Can" rapper's birthday tribute post to the "Work It" femcee extra special was the fact that he posted on Instagram a rare picture of him, Missy and Aaliyah posing together at a party.
The image saw Nas wrapping his hands on both Missy and the late singer. The 45-year-old spitter looked dapper in a classic tuxedo suit that he teamed with sunglasses and a big chain while the "1, 2 Step" raptress was smirking in an all-white outfit. Aaliyah, on the other hand, looked elegant in a black dress and had her raven locks down.
Nas wrote in the caption of the post, "Happy Birthday The Great [Missy Elliott] Love ya Soul Aaliyah!" It's unclear when the picture was taken.
Missy herself celebrated her birthday while working, as seen in her Instagram post. In a video that she shared on the social media site, the raptress was getting her hair done by two of her hairdressers as she wrote in the caption of the post, "Welp Happy Birrrrrrrthday sitting for hours and still gotta dip em in boiling water on my bday."
Besides her birthday, Missy had another thing to celebrate because she became the first female hip-hop music musician to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Tearing up during the induction ceremony earlier this month, she said, "I want to say one thing to the writers, to the upcoming writers, 'Do not give up.' We all go through writer's block. Sometimes you just have to walk away from a record and come back to it. But don't give up because I'm standing here. And this is big for hip-hop too."
