While specific details of the agreement have not been revealed, Junior Gibbons has previously stated that he only wanted the Migos rapper to cover the cost for a new phone.

AceShowbiz - Rapper Offset has escaped felony charges for criminal damage after reaching a private agreement with the fan whose phone he allegedly smashed.

Authorities in Georgia issued a warrant for the 27-year-old's arrest on May 2 after he appeared to have been caught on camera smacking a man's cellphone out of his hand at a Target department store in Sandy Springs, Atlanta days earlier.

The fan, Junior Gibbons, claimed the screen of his $800 (£635) iPhone had been smashed as a result of the incident, and he reported it to police, who launched an investigation into the encounter.

Detectives deemed Offset's actions were intentional and declared the case a felony due to the cost of the device, charging the Migos star with criminal damage of property in the second degree.

Offset blasted the news as "crazy" in a now-deleted message on Twitter, while his lawyers got in touch with police officials to discuss his surrender.

Cardi B's husband has since worked out a settlement with Gibbons, and as a result, he will not be prosecuted over the encounter.

Specific details of the agreement reached with Gibbons have not been revealed, but the fan had previously insisted he only wanted Offset to cover the cost for a new phone.

According to TMZ, the case has now been closed by representatives at the Fulton County District Attorney's Office.

It's one less legal worry for the father-of-four - he is already in trouble with the law following an arrest in Georgia last summer (2018), when he was accused of making an improper lane change, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

The latter charge was subsequently dropped, but last month (April 2019), police filed a new count for possession of a weapon by a convicted felon against the star.

He pleaded not guilty to the original counts in March.
