The final episode of the hit HBO fantasy series sees the aftermath of Daenerys Targaryen burning and destroying King's Landing with fire although Cersei has surrendered by ringing the bells.

AceShowbiz - The day has come. After 8 seasons, "Game of Thrones" aired its much-anticipated series finale on Sunday, May 19. The final episode saw the aftermath of the previous episode in which Daenerys Targaryen burned and destroyed King's Landing with fire although Cersei had surrendered by ringing the bells.

[SPOILER ALERT!] Tyrion opened the episode by walking through the ash and rubble after Dany's attack on King's Landing. Trailing behind him were Jon Snow and Davos as they saw dead bodies, which most of them were skeletons, scattered around the street.

When Tyrion said that he wanted to confront Dany alone, Jon Snow told him that he would send men to protect him because it was not safe. However, Tryion refused. Later, Jon and Davos met Grey Worm who was about to execute the remaining Lannister soldiers before Jon intervened. Grey Worm, however, insisted that he only took orders from his queen and they almost fought if Davos didn't stop them.

When Tyrion made it inside the Red Keep, he encountered the dead bodies of his siblings--Jaime and Cersei. Jaime died while trying to protect Cersei as his body draped over hers. On the other hand, Jon Snow saw Dany walking out to talk with her soldiers. "Blood my blood. You kept all your promises to me. You killed my enemies in their iron suits. You tore down their stone houses. You gave me the Seven Kingdoms!" she said, with the Dothraki cheering for her and Drogon roaring beside her.

Following her victory, Dany pointed Grey Worm as her Master of War. Angry Tyrion then joined Jon Snow behind Dany before he walked up beside her. When Dany accused him of treason, Tyrion replied, "I freed my brother and you slaughtered a city." He then took off his Hand of the Queen pin and threw it away right before her eyes, prompting her to order Tyrion to be taken away.

Dany looked at Jon Snow but then proceeded to walk away. Arya then came to Jon much to his surprise. Arya then warned him about Dany, saying, "You'll always be a threat to her. I know a killer when I see one."

Jon Snow then went to see Tyrion, who was skeptical when Jon Snow mentioned that the war was over. He told Jon Snow that Dany would never stop. When Jon Snow appeared to defend her, Tyrion asked him if he would have done the same if he was the King. "She believes her destiny is to build a better world for everyone," said Tryion, adding that it would mean Daenerys would never hesitate to kill everyone who stood in the way of her perfect world.

"Love is the death of duty," Jon Snow said, quoting Maester Aemon's words. "Sometimes duty is the death of love," Tyrion responded. He wanted Jon to kill Dany, though he was hesitant. Tyrion tried to change his mind by talking about Arya and Sansa, who would never bend the knee to Dany, and convinced him that was the only way to stop the madness.

When Jon met Dany, she was admiring the Iron Throne. Jon told her about Grey Worm killing Lannister soldiers even when Cersei surrendered. "I tried to make peace with Cersei. She used their innocence as a weapon against me," Dany said. Jon Snow asked her to forgive Tyrion, but she refused. All Jon's talk didn't work, and that was when he knew what he needed to do.

"You're my queen, now always," he told her. They then shared a kiss before Jon Snow stabbed her heart with a dagger. Jon Snow cried while watching Dany take her last breath. Drogon was then angrily burning the Iron Throne down before carrying Dany's body away.

Sansa, Arya, Brienne, Sam, Gendry, Davos, Bran, Yara Greyjoy, the Prince of Dorn, Robin Arryn, Edmure Tully then gathered for a council meeting alongside Tyrion. Yara showed her loyalty to Dany and talked badly about Jon, who was held a prisoner by Grey Worm. Arya threatened to kill her if she didn't stop.

They decided that they need a new King or Queen. Tyrion suggested that Bran should be the one who ruled the Seven Kingdoms. Sansa, however, noted that Bran wasn't interested in being a ruler in addition to the fact that he couldn't father children. But that was the point, Tyrion said that the new king would be chosen. When asked about being king, Bran said, "Why do you think I came all this way?"

Everyone agreed except Sansa, who wanted the North to remain an independent kingdom. Bran, who was named Brandon the Broken, granted her wish and named Tyrion as his Hand of the King. Tyrion refused but Bran insisted. Speaking to Grey Worm who wanted justice for Tyrion's treason, Bran said that being Hand of the King is justice. "He's made a lost of mistakes. He's going to spend the rest of his life fixing them," Bran told Grey Worm.

As for Jon Snow, Bran ordered him to go back to the Night's Watch. Jon also could have no wife, father no children. Jon Snow was fine with all of that since he was still guilty for killing Dany. However, not all of them were satisfied with the decision.

Jon Snow bid farewell to Sansa, Arya and Bran with Arya telling him that she was going west of Westeros to figure out what was out there. "It's where all the maps stop. That's where I'm going," she said. Meanwhile, Brienne wrote on the History of the Kingsguard book that Jaime "died protecting his queen."

The show gave a nice nod to author George R.R. Martin, whose book "A Song of Ice & Fire" was adapted into the show, when Sam brought Tyrion a book titled "A Song of Ice & Fire" during Bran's first council meeting as the new king which was also attended by Bronn, Brienne and Davos.

The other characters were seen going somewhere else as they were about to open a new chapter in their lives. Arya was heading west in a Stark ship, Grey Worm and his army left King's Landing to free other slave cities, while Jon reunited with Tormund and Ghost in the Night's Watch. They went beyond the wall as Sansa was crowned Queen of the North.
