AceShowbiz - Rapper YG is heading back to the big screen after scoring a role in new coming-of-age film "Tuscaloosa".

The "Big Bank" hitmaker has joined "Stranger Things" star Natalia Dyer, "Argo"'s Tate Donovan, and actor Devon Bostick in the independent drama, based on the book of the same name by W. Glasgow Phillips.

Written and directed by Philip Harder, the film is set in the summer of 1972 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and follows a disgruntled college graduate who falls in love with a patient at his father's mental institution.

Donovan will also serve as an executive producer on the project.

The movie marks the second serious movie role for YG, real name Keenon Jackson, after featuring alongside Matthew McConaughey in "White Boy Rick" last year (18).

He previously made guest appearances as himself in 2012 comedies "Mac & Devin Go to High School" and "We the Party", both of which starred Snoop Dogg, and he lent his voice to a one-off character in animated series "Lucas Bros. Moving Co." in 2015.
