AceShowbiz - Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron were once one of the power couples in the entertainment industry ever since they starred together on hit Disney movie "High School Musical". Even though they have now broken up and moved on, the memories still linger at least on the actress' mind. Vanessa recently got candid about her first high-profile romance during an interview on "Awards Chatter" podcast.

"It started off really organically," the 30-year-old said during the podcast, admitting that she couldn't have been more "grateful" to be romancing the actor that time as it helped ground her during a tumultuous period in her life.

The "Beastly" star continued, "It was this massive phenomenon and [all] eyes were on me. And it's just really weird foreign thing to go through, and by being in a relationship, it kind of kept me stabilized and grounded, and I had someone to lean on who was going through it as well."

Obviously, their relationship didn't go as smooth as their characters' romance in the Disney musical. There were times when they had a fight, and Vanessa admitted that it was complicated to date her co-star. "I remember one time we did have a fight and it was while we were at rehearsals," Vanessa recalled. "I remember [director] Kenny Ortega coming around the corner with the most concerned look on his face like, 'Oh no, is our movie going to fall apart right?' "

Fortunately, Vanessa was capable of setting aside her personal issues so that it would not affect the filming. Emphasizing that she prided herself on "being a professional," the "Second Act" star said, "I was like that aside we are going to move forward and do what we need to do... and we sorted it all out. I think because I was so young, I think that relationship stabilized me."

Vanessa and Zac dated for four years before splitting up in 2010. She is currently in relationship with longtime boyfriend Austin Butler, while "The Greatest Showman" actor was recently rumored to be romancing Olympic swimmer Sarah Bro.
