AceShowbiz - To drum up the anticipation for "Dark Phoenix", 20th Century Fox has released a new trailer for the upcoming X-Men movie. Sharing more details of Jean Grey's (Sophie Turner) evil evolution, the video opens with a look at the team going into a space mission to save NASA astronauts, during which Jean gets exposed to a cosmic force.

Against all odds, Jean survives the incident that should've killed her. "That power destroyed everything it ever came into contact with...until you," says Jessica Chastain's villainous character. Trying to manipulate Jean, she tells her, "The X-Men fear you. And what they fear...," before Jean continues, "...they seek to destroy."

In another scene, Jean is seen losing control of her power, but she admits that "it feels good." As bad things happen, including one incident that costs the life of one of the X-Men, the team cannot agree on what they should do about her. "She's still our friend," says Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), while Beast (Nicholas Hoult) thinks "she's not Jean anymore."

Magneto (Michael Fassbender) is among those who are taking the hard approach. "The girl die," he coldly declares, seemingly seeking to end Jean and her power. He is later seen confronting Jean and trying to threaten her, but Jean isn't taking his bluff and easily overpowers him instead.

Charles Xavier a.k.a. Professor X (James McAvoy) is also having a showdown with Jean, with the latter getting into her mentor's mind.

In "Dark Phoenix", during a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all. Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet.

The film is dubbed the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we've come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet -- one of their own.

Also starring Jennifer Lawrence, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Evan Peters, the movie is directed and written by Simon Kinberg. Kinberg also serves as producer along with Hutch Parker, Lauren Shuler Donner and Todd Hallowell. The Marvel superhero movie is set to be unleashed in U.S. theaters on June 7.
