It is still unclear which role 'The Big Sick' actor is in negotiations for, but the new Marvel blockbuster will reportedly see the 'By the Sea' actress taking on the role of Sersi.

AceShowbiz - Actor Kumail Nanjiani has reportedly been tapped to join Angelina Jolie in new Marvel blockbuster "The Eternals".
"The Big Sick" star is in negotiations to board director Chloe Zhao's adventure movie, which focuses on a group of near-immortal beings known as Eternals.
It's unclear which character the filmmaker wants to cast Nanjiani as, but Jolie is reportedly playing the role of Sersi, an outgoing Eternal who has no problem mixing with humans.
Created by Jack Kirby, "The Eternals" debuted as a comic in July, 1976, and was given a revamp in the 2000s by author Neil Gaiman, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film adaptation, written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, is expected to begin shooting later this year.
