AceShowbiz - Kandi Burruss announced in November 2018 that she turned to surrogacy due to fertility struggles. And now, a new report has shed some details about it, suggesting that "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star and husband Todd Tucker are going to be parents again.
According to MTO News, the Xscape singer and Todd are expecting twin girls via surrogate. It is also said that they will make the big announcement sometime this week.
The site further reveals the reason why Kandi is holding back her baby news, and it is totally sweet. The Bravo personality allegedly delays the announcement because she doesn't want to steal spotlight from "RHOA" co-star Porsha Williams, who welcomed her first child with fiance Dennis McKinley on Friday, March 22. Now that she has given birth, Kandi is expected to make the announcement imminently.
In a November 2018 episode of the Bravo reality series, the 42-year-old TV star and her 45-year-old husband made a visit to OBGYN Dr. Jackie Walters. They revealed to the "Married to Medicine" star that they were considering surrogacy.
Kandi admitted that she and Todd had been trying to get pregnant naturally but "it is not happening." She added that she was also worried about what would happen if she naturally conceived.
During the time of her pregnancy with her first child Ace, Kandi faced several issues including a few surgeries for fibroids, benign lumps or tumors that can cause complications with conception. "I know there was still some fibroids after pregnancy. I feel like it got worse because Ace is two now and nothing’s happening," she told Dr. Walters.
"After having multiple thyroid surgeries, and still the fact that I have not been able to get pregnant the last two years, I know that I am going to have to do the same process again," she continued saying. "[I had] a couple of scares during my pregnancy with Ace. I was a high risk and I did have bleeding a few times. So my womb is just, it's not the best place to have a healthy pregnancy with no issues."
The couple later explained that they had tow embrios "from when we got Ace." Her husband chimmed in, "I only want to do it if we can do them both. I don't want to leave anybody behind," adding that they might need "two surrogates."
While it's possible, Dr. Walters noted that it would cost twice more expensive than having one surrogate. "It's going to cost you twice as much. From $90,000-$130,000 to have a surrogate," the doctor said.
