Writer and director Lorene Scafaria's movie is inspired by a 2016 New York Magazine article and the shoot will begin in New York City this weekend (March 22).

STX Films is producing alongside Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina, as well as Adam McKay and Will Ferrell.

"We could not have asked for a more exciting or talented lineup of performers to join our cast," said Adam Fogelson, Chairman of STX Films. "STX is thrilled to reunite with Jennifer, Elaine and Benny to bring this unexpected, entertaining and often shocking story to the big screen for audiences worldwide."

"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work with this dynamic group of women," director Scafaria told Deadline. "We're grateful to have assembled such a powerhouse cast and can't wait to start filming at the end of the week."

J.Lo, who collaborated with Cardi B on the track "Dinero" last year (2018), has been working out for the new role by perfecting her pole dancing moves at home.

She took stripper lessons from a Cirque du Soleil acrobat to limber up for her new movie.

"I have a girl who comes in and teaches me... It's a girl from Cirque du Soleil," Jennifer recently told late night chat show host Jimmy Kimmel. "It's very hard. She's fantastic and she works with me and, I mean, I have bruises everywhere... I have a lot of respect for people who do the pole. It's, like, acrobatic. It's different muscle groups and the things they do with their legs, upside down, I'm like, 'What? I can't... hold on. Can we do that part again?' "

Lopez also went on a strict 10-day no sugar, no carbs diet to prepare for the role.
