Weeks after he blasted the media for vilifying the Duchess of Sussex, the 'Ocean's Eleven' actor explains on 'Good Morning Britain' why he felt the need to speak out in her defence.

AceShowbiz - George Clooney recently spoke out to defend Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex because he believes she hasn't done anything to deserve the "unjust" media attention she receives.

The "Ocean's Eleven" actor was taking part in a panel discussion in February when he blasted the treatment of the actress-turned-royal, and said it was "frustrating to see" her being "pursued and vilified and chased" in the same way as her late mother-in-law, Diana, Princess of Wales.

George explained why he felt the need to speak out in her defence during an appearance on "Good Morning Britain" on Friday, March 15.

"I think it's a little unfair at times when, I've seen it when the press can turn on you for sort of ridiculous reasons and for almost nothing and it seemed to me to be a little unjust since she hadn't done anything except just happen to live her life," he said.

"She's a really kind and smart and intelligent young woman and they're a really wonderful, loving couple. Most of it you can just shrug off and not pay attention to, but sometimes it's unkind."

The actor and his human rights lawyer wife Amal Clooney were guests of honour at a dinner at royal residence Buckingham Palace in London on Tuesday, and George joked that he saw Prince Charles go wild.

"Charles got really crazy and started dancing on the tables... I was surprised to see that. He had such good dance moves. Sir Tom Jones sang, which was fun. It was actually a really great night," the 57-year-old noted.

It has been reported that Amal, who attended Meghan's recent baby shower, is going to be working with Charles' charity, The Prince's Trust. Editors at The Daily Mail have claimed that she has been lined up to spearhead the first global youth campaign for the charity's international arm.

The couple, who were guests at Meghan's wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018, were in Edinburgh, Scotland on Thursday to attend the People's Postcode Lottery Charity Gala where they were honoured for their international humanitarian work through the Clooney Foundation for Justice.
