People believe that the 'Big Bang Theory' actress is making fun of an artwork by a fan who calls her a 'personal hero.'

AceShowbiz - It's not uncommon for celebrities to be the subject of people's art, and sometimes they will share the artwork on social media to show their appreciation. But when Mayim Bialik did the exact same thing just recently, the actress received backlash as people thought she was mocking the fan's art instead of appreciating it. Thus, she had to clarify her misleading caption.

"The Big Bang Theory" star took to Instagram to share a screenshot of the artwork, which was drawn by a woman named Sarah Ellen. Taking part of the 30 Day challenge, Sarah dedicated her first day to Mayim, whom she called a "personal hero to me, being a Mental Health Advocate and overall great human being."

In the caption of the post, Mayim wrote, "I think a portrait of me needs more than 30 minutes. Still flattering. I think. What's with my teeth, Sarah Ellen!?"

I think πŸ€” a portrait of me needs more than 30 minutes. Still flattering. πŸ˜‚ I think. What’s with my teeth, Sarah Ellen!? Edit: guess I'll clarify -- I love this painting. Sarah Ellen is a friend of a friend, my friend sent it to me and I thought it was wonderful. It made me laugh in a good way. I'm flattered by the nice things she said, and that she would choose me as a subject! I think I'm tough to capture, and that's what I meant by that. It's me, not you. Thank you, Sarah Ellen, and keep up the great work 😊

Reading her caption, her followers quickly jumped into the comment section to criticize her for seemingly making fun of the artwork. "So much praise for you and what you do for mental health but you chose to shame her in front of all your followers? That doesn't show a regard for mental health?" one comment read. "Well that was a pretty s****y a** thing to say," another said as one individual noted, "So disappointed you!!! Your comments couldn't be more discouraging."

Following the backlash, Mayim edited her caption to add a few thoughts, insisting that she wasn't mocking the painting at all. "Guess I'll clarify I love this painting," the 43-year-old said. "Sarah Ellen is a friend of a friend, my friend sent it to me and I thought it was wonderful. It made me laugh in a good way. I'm flattered by the nice things she said, and that she would choose me as a subject!"

She continued, "I think I'm tough to capture, and that's what I meant by that. It's me, not you. Thank you, Sarah Ellen, and keep up the great work."
