The 'Peter Pan' hitmaker learns about her induction to the Grand Ole Opry when she joins Little Big Town on stage in Nashville, Tennessee to perform the country band's song 'Girl Crush'.

AceShowbiz - Kelsea Ballerini was surprised with an invitation to the Grand Ole Opry during a duet with Little Big Town on Tuesday night (March 05).

The country singer was performing "Girl Crush" with the band on stage in Nashville, Tennessee when the group changed the lyrics to their hit tune to ask Kelsea to become a member of the institution. Induction into the Grand Ole Opry traditionally means artists have made it as a country music star.

"Kelsea Ballerini do you want to join the Opry," Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild crooned at the end of the song, leading to the 25-year-old singer gasping in surprise and turning on her heel, walking to the back of the stage to compose herself as the crowd cheered.

When Karen asked her how she was feeling, a tearful Kelsea replied: "I don't know, I'm going to pass out, I think."

After pulling herself together, she explained: "Just to be able to be on the stage and sing my songs and sing people's songs that paved the way for me and people I look up to and admire so much, it's the greatest gift in the whole world. This is the home of country music and I get to be a part of it, which is crazy."

Kelsea will be the youngest current member of the Grand Ole Opry when she's officially inducted in April, and she said after the show that she was stunned and honoured by the invitation.

"The Grand Ole Opry, playing it was the first step," the Tennessee native smiled. "And then joining has been the next step. That's been on the goal list ever since I played it the first time. And I guess I get to check that off now."

Kelsea first broke onto the music scene with her debut album "The First Time" in 2015, which included singles such as "Peter Pan" and "Love Me Like You Mean It", before her second record Unapologetically, released in 2017, cemented her position as one of the industry's hottest young talents.
