While promoting new film 'Triple Frontier' on 'Today', the 'Justice League' star also talks about his love for ex-wife Jennifer Garner as well as their new co-parenting relationship.

AceShowbiz - Ben Affleck has no shame about seeking treatment for his alcoholism, admitting ongoing therapy is just a part of his life.

The "Good Will Hunting" star has been in and out of rehab for alcohol abuse throughout his adult life, and most recently completed a 40-day residential treatment programme in 2018 after a very public relapse. But, despite his struggles with addiction, he is proud to continuously seek help when he needs it.

"Some people are sort of uncomfortable, but it doesn't really bother me to talk about alcoholism," the 46-year-old told breakfast show "Today" on Monday, March 04, while promoting his new film, "Triple Frontier", with Charlie Hunnam. "Being an alcoholic is part of my life; it's something I deal with."

"It doesn't have to subsume my whole identity and be everything, but it is something that you have to work at," he added. "I feel like I had a problem, I really wanted to address it and I take some pride in that."

Ben shares three kids with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner and admits he seeks help to keep his family together.

"It's about yourself, your life, your family," he explained. "People, we encounter these kinds of hurdles and we have to deal with them."

Ben and Jennifer formally ended their 12-year marriage last year when they finalised their divorce, and in the wake of the split, he is happy with their new co-parenting relationship and friendship.

"I hope I'm a pretty good dad," he gushed, singing his ex's praises. "I certainly try very hard. I'm lucky they've got a great mum and she helps out a great deal with making sure that we co-parent in as good a way as possible. I think dads are so important to kids and it's our responsibility to be there for them, to be present, to be mindful, to be attentive, to be part of their lives, to be as in it as moms."

"(Parenting is the) central preoccupation in my life. It's what makes me happy. The rest of the stuff kind of follows."

When asked if he still loves his ex-wife, Ben said of Garner, "Of course. She's wonderful. Somebody's the mother of your kids - they're going to be the most important, central person in your life."
