Having broken previous record held by Garth Brooks at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in Texas, the 'Bodak Yellow' hitmaker reveals that she suffered bad migraine before hitting the stage.

AceShowbiz - Cardi B has sweetly thanked late singer Selena Quintanilla for helping her break a record at her latest gig.

The "I Like It" rapper took the stage at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at NRG Stadium in Texas on Friday, March 01 to perform for 75,580 people - the venue's most-attended show of all time. Country legend Garth Brooks held the previous record with 75,577 attendees.

And Cardi credited late Latin superstar Selena for her recent success.

The 26-year-old shared a video on Instagram, in which she told fans that she was so ill with a migraine before taking to the stage, she was unable to rehearse.

However, once she saw a photo of the late "Tejano" hitmaker backstage, Cardi knew it was going to be a good night.

"Hey guys, I just want to say that I'm honoured for beating the Houston Rodeo show (record)," she said, as she wore a pink and blue glittery cowboy outfit, complete with leather chaps and a pink cowboy hat.

"I was so nervous to perform in front of 75,000 plus people, but when I saw this picture (of Selena), out of all the outfits that she wore, for me to see this picture with this outfit, this was the inspiration for "Please Me" (her new video with Bruno Mars), I knew I was going to be all right," the mother-of-one explained, as she pointed to a photo of Selena on the wall in front of her dressing room.

"I love you, b**ch!" Cardi yelled, before singing and dancing along to the late star's hit, "Como la Flor".

I was so sick yesterday ya don’t even know ! I had such a bad migraine I had to get a doctor backstage to give me two shots and ain’t rehearsed cause I been working all week and ain’t really know what I was getting myself into until I got in the venue .Im OD honored for all the love Houston gave me! I remember the first time I came to Houston I came out here to strip and people showed me maaaaaa love and Houston was the first place me and set when on a date 😂😂😂The love have really grown .I was maaaaa hype to see this picture before I got in my dressing room cause out of all her outfits there’s a picture hanging on the wall of the outfit I got my inspiration from for Please Me music video.It was like a lucky sign to me .

She later explained in the caption on Instagram that a doctor had to give her "two shots" backstage in order to get her well enough to perform.

And the rapper touched upon her past as a stripper during her set.

"The purpose of the rodeo is to collect money, to give scholarships out," Cardi told the crowd. "Any job you pick, whether it's a doctor... or a f**king stripper, you gonna need some education."
