The former 'Seinfeld' star wants European Collectibles to cover his damages after a new owner of his 1958 Porsche accused him of selling a fake classic car.

AceShowbiz - Comedian Jerry Seinfeld is suing a car dealer for stiffing him on a classic.

The funnyman paid top dollar for a motor he was told was a rare Porsche, but now he's not so sure the car's certification was legitimate.

According to the suit, obtained by TMZ, Jerry bought the 1958 Porsche 356 A 1500 GS/GT Carrera Speedster for $1.2 million (£910,000) in 2013 from bosses at European Collectibles, who gave him a certificate of authenticity.

Seinfeld auctioned the car off three years later for $1.54 million (£1.2 million), but the new owners, FICA FRIO Ltd, challenged the car's authenticity, and sued the comedian for selling them a bogus Porsche.

Jerry now wants European Collectibles to pay up, claiming he had no idea the certification he was given was bogus until he got sued. He insists FICA FRIO and European Collectibles should be battling over the car and he is suing the latter to cover his damages if lawmakers decide the car's certification is inauthentic.

Jerry's attorney, Orin Snyder, tells TMZ, "Jerry has no liability in this matter, but he wants to do the right thing, and is therefore bringing this action to hold European Collectibles accountable for its own certification of authenticity, and to allow the court to determine the just outcome."
