Patton Oswalt urges everyone dealing with depression or suicidal thoughts to seek help, while Whitney Cummings' 'heart is shattered' in the wake of the 'Brody Stevens: Enjoy It!' star's passing.

AceShowbiz - Hollywood is mourning the loss of one of its own. Comedian Brody Stevens, who appeared in such films as "I Am Comic", "Jesus Is Magic", "The Hangover", "Due Date" and "The Hangover Part II", died on Friday afternoon, February 22 in Los Angeles. He was 48.

Law enforcement sources confirm that his body was found in his home just before 1:00 P.M. According to The Blast which first reported the news, the cause of death is being investigated as a suicide by hanging.

A rep for Brody confirms the sad news in a statement to the site, "Brody was an inspiring voice who was a friend to many in the comedy community. He pushed creative boundaries and his passion for his work and his love of baseball were contagious. He was beloved by many and will be greatly missed. We respectfully ask for privacy at this time."

Brody, who teamed up with Zach Galifianakis for HBO's documentary comedy series "Brody Stevens: Enjoy It!" which was later picked up by Comedy Central, had struggled with mental health issues in the past. In 2011, he was hospitalized after suffering a bipolar disorder.

Following news of Brody's tragic passing, fellow comedians and celebrities took to Twitter to mourn the loss. Comedian Patton Oswalt wrote, "If you are depressed or feeling suicidal please please please please please reach out to ANYONE. I never get to see Brody Stevens again I can't stand this."

Equally devastated by Brody's death, stand-up comedian Brad Williams posted, "I'm numb right now. Brody Stevens made everyone smile around him. He didn't just preach positive energy. He lived it. This is heartbreaking. #RIPBrodyStevens." He also sent a message to raise awareness for mental health issues, adding, "If you or anyone you know needs help, please reach out. People care. We will be there for you."

Nick Kroll tweeted, "#RIPBrodyStevens he was so funny and weird and vulnerable and wild and kind. Every time he was onstage it was an adventure. Here's some comics talking about what made him so special."

Whitney Cummings expressed her heartbreak as writing, "I love you so much Brody Stevens. Nobody has been nicer in comedy than you. My heart is shattered."

Seth Rogen didn't post his own statement, but liked a tweet posted by Jonah Ray Rodrigues which read, "Brody Stevens was singular. Nobody else like him. Always sweet and kind. Always super hilarious. He said to me last year: 'I heard there's a gif of us fist-bumping. You know computers, link it to me!'. I searched for it and here it is."

Galifianakis, meanwhile, has not publicly reacted to his friend and "The Hangover" co-star's passing.
