Receiving the posthumous prize on behalf of the late 'Lonely Together' hitmaker, Klas Bergling describes his son as 'a friendly person with humour and very serious, humble and stubborn as sin.'

AceShowbiz - Avicii was posthumously honoured at the Grammis in Sweden earlier this week (ends February 10).

The "Lonely Together" hitmaker, real name Tim Bergling, was just 28 when he reportedly took his own life in April (2018), and on February 7 his father, Klas Bergling, was presented with an honourary award at the Grammis in Stockholm.

"As Tim's father, I am very honoured to receive this great prize," Klas said. "Tim was a friendly person with humour and very serious, humble and stubborn as sin. When it came to the music, he was on the verge of obsessed to reach the optimal he had imagined."

"He was a shy person who didn't want to be in the centre (of attention) and he had a hard time with the official role. He had a need to withdraw, find peace and find himself - something that many of us probably recognise."

"Tim, we think your music will live and continue to delight people," he added.

Avicii previously won an award at the prizegiving in 2012 for his song "Levels", according to Billboard.
