The Puerto Rican model, who is the ex-wife of Marc Anthony, has undergone two surgeries to remove a big area from the back of her knee and also remove two lymph nodes at the top of her leg where the cancer had spread.

AceShowbiz - Former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres says she has cancer. The model/actress, who won the Miss Universe pageant in 1993, took to Instagram on Monday, February 4 to reveal her skin cancer diagnosis and remind other moms to take care of themselves.
In a video she posted on her page, she held back tears as she shared the "sad news." She wrote in the caption, "As mothers we are always taking care of everyone around us... our kids, family, friends & often we forget to take care of ourselves. Today I have some sad news... I have been diagnosed with skin cancer 'melanoma' from a big spot/mole I never paid attention to, even though it was new, it had been growing for years & had an uneven surface."
"My fiance Louis had been begging me to have it checked & finally made an appointment himself... after a biopsy & a second surgery last Tuesday the results unfortunately are positive," she continued. The 44-year-old writer has undergone surgeries to remove "a big area from the back of my knee" and also "2 lymph nodes at the top of my leg where it had already spread."
Dayanara is now awaiting news on the treatment she will be receiving and hopes that the cancer "has not spread to any more areas or organs." She added, "I have put everything in God's hands & I know he has all control... My sons although a bit scared know about my faith and know they have a warrior of a mommy!"
She went on using her experience to urge other women to be aware of skin cancer. She wrote, "But if I can help anyone along the way based on my experience, it would be to tell you... PLEASE, never forget to take care of yourself. If you see something or feel something different in your body have it checked... I had no idea skin cancer could spread anywhere else in your body."
Dayanara shares two sons with singer Marc Anthony, 18-year-old Cristian Anthony Muniz and 15-year-old Ryan Anthony Muniz. The couple divorced in 2004 after three years of rocky marriage. She is currently engaged to Marvel Studios co-president Louis D'Esposito.
