Though she doesn't want to disappoint people, the 'Bride Wars' star feels the need to clarify on her parenting approach since she just wants to raise her kids to be good people.

AceShowbiz - Kate Hudson is clearing up reports suggesting she is adopting a "genderless" approach to raising her newborn daughter, insisting her comments were misconstrued.

The "Almost Famous" star hit headlines last week (ends January 25) when an interview she did with AOL drew attention for remarks she made about how she plans to raise little Rani, after having sons Ryder, 15, and seven-year-old Bingham.

"(Having a daughter) doesn't really change my approach (to parenting), but there's definitely a difference," Kate mused. "I think you just raise your kids individually regardless - like a genderless (approach). We still don't know what she's going to identify as."

Many readers thought Kate's quotes meant she would be giving Rani a gender neutral upbringing, earning her praise from some fans who appreciated her modernised style of parenting, but now the actress has admitted that's not quite what she meant in the chat.

In a lengthy Instagram post captioned, "Monday thoughts," the new mum suggested that particular line was promoted just to get Internet users to click on the article, which was headlined, "Kate Hudson explains her 'genderless' approach to raising daughter Rani Rose".

"Dear all my friends, fans and others who read this, Recently someone asked me something along the lines of if having and raising a girl is different from boys. My response was simple. Not really," she began.

"This whole click bait tactic of saying I'm raising my daughter to be 'genderless' is silly and frankly doesn't even make sense."

Kate went on to insist she will continue giving Rani and her boys the freedom to be "exactly who they want to be" so they can "feel confident in their life choices and feel loved and supported no matter what".

"Me saying a 'genderless approach' was a way of re focusing (sic) the conversation in a direction that could exist outside of the female stereotype," she continued. "It just felt a little antiquated to me. Not all girls want to be a princess, some want to be king And that's fine by me."

Apologising if she was "disappointing people," Kate concluded, "I just try to raise my kids to be good people with the best tools to face this big crazy world. And if they grow up and identify with something different than what others want to identify them as... mama's cool with it! I keep it simple cause we all know raising kids is anything but!".
