The 'Suicide Squad' actor gets hit with reports that he has separated from Cleo Wattenstrom in 2018 although they were spotted attending a UFC fight together in December.

AceShowbiz - Joel Kinnaman and wife Cleo Wattenstrom have reportedly split after nearly three years of marriage.

According to Us Weekly, who broke the news, the "Suicide Squad" actor and his 26-year-old tattoo artist spouse called time on their relationship last year (2018) but have remained friends.

The 39-year-old screen star has even been spending time with his estranged wife and their mutual friends in recent months, with a snap of the pair alongside their pals at a UFC fight last month shared on Instagram. And back in November, Cleo wished Joel a happy birthday, sharing a series of pictures of the duo together and writing: "JOEL!!!!!!!!HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!" alongside a red heart emoji.

Joel and Cleo first started dating in 2014, before the actor revealed during an interview on U.S. TV show "The Talk" in April 2016 that he and Cleo had married in secret.

When host Aisha Tyler asked him how his "girlfriend" felt about him and his "Suicide Squad" co-stars getting matching tattoos, Joel corrected: "My wife...".

He then continued: "She was laughing at it. A lot of tattoo artists are not so precious about their tattoos. (Tattoo artists are) all friends, they get drunk and do tattoos on each other. They're actually the ones that are the least precious about it. She was like, 'His line work needs some work!'."

Since his split from Cleo, Joel has been photographed out and about with Swedish Victoria's Secret model Kelly Gale - the pair were seen in Los Angeles together on January 20.

He previously dated actress Olivia Munn, until the pair split in April 2014 after two years together.

Speaking previously to Cosmopolitan magazine about his love life, Joel was asked if he has had any relationship regrets over the years, to which he replied: "I've hurt people unnecessarily when it was about my own insecurities. But you have to make those mistakes to become a better person. I've learned to steer away from the wrong kind of woman for me."
