The 'Wendy Williams Show' host is extending her break for a week as she was previously said to be back taping the show on January 14.

AceShowbiz - Fans of "The Wendy Williams Show" have to wait for another week before their favorite host return. Wendy, who is taking a break from the daytime talk show after sustaining injury she suffered last month, is set to resume filming for the show on January 21, Variety reports.

Distributor and producer Debmar-Mercury announced the news on Wednesday, January 9. That means Wendy is extending her break for a week as she was previously said to be back taping the show on January 14.

"As she has for the past 10 years, Wendy delivers an incomparable live talk show day in and day out and we want to give her the best opportunity to heal and recover," Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein said in a statement. "Wendy has our complete and unwavering support and we look forward to her return to the iconic purple chair."

"The Wendy Williams Show" has been running reruns since December 24. It will return with new episode beginning on January 14 with a panel of "Hot Talkers" taking over the hosting duty amid the host's absence.

It was said that Wendy suffered an upper-arm injury in late December. She missed the December 17 taping before returning to work on the following day. She hosted a few episodes that week until several internet users slammed her for odd on-air behavior on December 20 episode. Following the backlash, the host explained in an Instagram post that she had suffered "a hairline fracture on my upper arm, which hurts like hell." She also added she had taken medication to manage the pain.

Later, the show announced the plan of her break from the show. "After fracturing her shoulder, Wendy is on the mend and wants to return pain-free and be 200%, delivering the best show that millions of viewers tune-in to watch," read the initial announcement.
