The former 'House of Cards' star reportedly told Emily Blunt that she is expecting her first child with her husband of more than one year at the 2019 Golden Globes.

AceShowbiz - Actress Kate Mara is reportedly pregnant.

The former "House of Cards" star, who has been married to fellow actor Jamie Bell for 18 months, was overheard telling Emily Blunt the happy news at the Golden Globes on Sunday, January 06, according to Page Six sources.

Mara is said to have told the British actress she was worried that people would guess she was expecting before she made an official announcement, because she is already showing.

Kate is reportedly five months along.

She has been keen to start a family with Bell for ages, telling Shape magazine in 2017 that it was "incredible" to have her "Fantastic Four" co-star "legally part of my family."

The couple began dating in late 2015 after meeting on the set of the superhero movie flop and surprised fans and followers by tying the knot in July 2017.

The baby will be Bell's second child - he has a five-year-old son from his marriage to actress Evan Rachel Wood, which ended in 2014.

If the baby news is true, the child already has a healthy mum - Kate is a fervent vegan, who has persuaded her meat-eater husband to give up flesh for one day a week.

The animal rights activist recently revealed, "One of the things that he is more aware of now... is that he does not eat as much meat as he used to. Having a Meatless Monday or whatever day of the week..., that does make a huge difference in our environment. So things like that, if you're not willing to become a full-on vegan or vegetarian, really that is OK."

"It's more about the choices you make and being aware of where the food you're buying is coming from, and making conscious choices."

Kate chose to adopt a vegan diet after she read Kimberly Snyder's book "The Beauty Detox Solution", telling Animal Equality's Their Voice Summer 2018 issue, "I have always been an animal lover and was a vegetarian for a while off and on, (and) when I read my friend Kimberly Snyder's book... it solidified my belief that we aren't meant to consume animal products, whether you're an animal lover, activist or not."

"Learning about the process that our bodies go through to digest meat and dairy was eye-opening for me. My love of animals and animal activism has grown over the years, so it was a no-brainer for me to become a vegan."
