The 'Notebook' star normalizes breastfeeding and breast-pumping in the image which features her wearing a Versace number with a breast pump connected to her.

AceShowbiz - Rachel McAdams is normalizing breast-pumping during a recent photo shoot. The actress, who gave birth to her first son in April this year, posed with a breast pump connected to her in a behind-the-scenes image taken during the photo shoot for Girls. Girls. Girls. magazine.

In the picture, the "True Detective" star wears a haute couture number by Versace and some Bulgari diamonds while sitting on a bed. Her colorful jacket is left unbuttoned, exposing her black bra and the breast pump.

The magazine's founder, Claire Rothstein, shared the image on Instagram. She wrote in the caption, "Obviously #rachelmcadams looks incredible and was quite literally the dream to work with but also this shoot was about 6 months post her giving birth to her son, so between shots she was expressing/pumping as still breastfeeding." Praising the actress, Rothstein added, "We had a mutual appreciation disagreement about who's idea it was to take this picture but I'm still sure it was hers which makes me love her even more."

She stressed the message of the picture which is to normalize breastfeeding. "Breastfeeding is the most normal thing in the world, like breathing and I can't for the life of me imagine why or how it is ever frowned upon or scared of," she continued. "I don't even think it needs explaining but just wanted to put this out there, as if it even changes one person's perception of something so natural, so normal, so amazing then that's great."

Rothstein added on a side note, "I did not look anywhere near as fabulous as this when feeding/pumping. And that's ok too."

The photo has received positive feedback, with one writing on Twitter, "don’t mind me just framing this photo of Rachel McAdams shot by Claire Rothstein." Another wrote, "This Rachel McAdams pumping photo warmed my heart."

McAdams, who kept her pregnancy under wraps, has not revealed any details about her son with boyfriend Jamie Linden. She, however, admitted that motherhood has been "the greatest thing that's ever happened to me, hands down." She went on sharing, "(People say) your life is not your own any more. But I had 39 years of me, I was sick of me, I was so happy to put the focus on some other person. I waited a long time (for motherhood)."
