Meanwhile, Eva Marcille, the winner of the third cycle of 'America's Next Top Model', throws some shade to Winnie, calling her remarks 'wack.'

AceShowbiz - Winnie Harlow recently received backlash over her statements about "America's Next Top Model". The former contestant of the modeling competition show is now attempting to explain why she said "ANTM" didn't help her career.

Previously during her appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen", the 24-year-old said, "I really started [modeling] after the show because that really didn't do anything for my career...which it doesn't do for any model's career realistically."

Winnie went on saying that she initially "thought that was going to be a career starter, but it was really like a reality TV show... That's not what I signed up for." However, she acknowledged that the show "was still part of my history and I'm really grateful for everything that I've done to get where I am."

As some people seemingly misunderstood her statements, the model took to her Instagram account to set the record straight. "It has nothing to do with being ungrateful, and more over nothing to do with 'shade' to Tyra [Banks]," she explained in a reply to a fan's comment. "She was the first person of higher status to make me feel like i could be a model and not only am i grateful for that, it's something I'll never forget."

"Afte being on the show no one would book me and no agency would sign me because of the Reality Tv stigma. Once i realized that, i stopped talking about it and grew my work base in Europe. Out there i was known by the first big campaign i did for a brand called Desigual. That's just my truth," she got candid.

"I understand people know me and have seen me on ANTM, but I never really talk about it because my goal is to always be honest but never to bash anyone's empire," she concluded. "I'm always grateful for every experience i have to learn and grow, but i also want to be real with young guys and girls whose dreams are to become models."

Prior to posting the post, Eva Marcille came after Winnie for her previous statements. The winner of the third cycle of "America's Next Top Model" didn't hesitate to blast the latter, calling her comments "wack." Eva said, "You know what? It amazes me that people get opportunities and they totally forgot who gave them those opportunities," she shaded Winnie.

"Winnie Harlow is a beautiful girl, but let's be clear: we know her because of 'Top Model', The world knows her, Drake knows her, Wiz Khalifa knows her because of 'Top Model'. So to diss Tyra, who gave everyone this huge platform, I think it's really wack."

Tyra Banks herself had weighed in on Winnie's comments, though she seemingly wanted to avoid creating further drama. Speaking with Andy Cohen during the Thursday, November 29 episode of his show, Tyra said, "I have nothing but love for my girls and my girls come from so many walks of life and so much pain and so much hardship and so much story, and a lot of the times when people express themselves in certain ways, there's a reason."

The supermodel added, "I will respect her confidentiality and her life, but yeah."
