The first sneak peek at the upcoming live-action/CGI remake recreates an iconic scene from the 1994 original animated film.

AceShowbiz - Walt Disney Studios unveils the first teaser trailer for its live-action "The Lion King (2019)" on Thanksgiving, giving movie lovers another reason to be thankful on this holiday. The video introduces the hyperrealistic live-action versions of Simba, Rafiki and Scar among other animals in the movie.

Set to "Circle of Life", the teaser recreates an iconic scene from the beloved 1994 animated film where Rafiki the baboon presents little Simba to the animal kingdom at Pride Rock. Before Simba is presented, his face is rubbed with red dust by shaman Rafiki.

Simba's father King Mufasa narrates the video. "Everything the light touches is our kingdom. But a king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun," he says to his son. "One day the sun will set on my time here, and will rise with you as the new king."

Donald Glover voices Simba, the crown prince of the Pride Lands, with JD McCrary as the young Simba. James Earl Jones reprises his role as Mufasa from the original animated movie. Beyonce Knowles, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, John Oliver, Alfre Woodard and Keegan-Michael Key also lend their voices to other characters in the movie.

Directed by Jon Favreau, the upcoming remake uses photorealistic CGI to depict the characters. The script is written by Jeff Nathanson based on the 1994 screenplay by Irene Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts and Linda Woolverton. Favreau also produces along with Karen Gilchrist and Jeffrey Silver, with Hans Zimmer on board to score the film.

The official synopsis reads, "From Disney Live Action, director Jon Favreau's all-new 'The Lion King' journeys to the African savanna where a future king must overcome betrayal and tragedy to assume his rightful place on Pride Rock." The remake is set for July 19, 2019 release in the United States.
