Responding to a fan who shares what he hopes to see from Boyega's character in the upcoming sequel, the actor promises, 'We've got you in this one bro! TRUST me!'

AceShowbiz - "Star Wars Episode IX" has been one of the heavily-guarded projects in Hollywood, so every little detail about the movie is very much appreciated. Recently, John Boyega got fans excited after he replied to a fan's tweet about what he hopes to see from the actor's character Finn in the next installment of the sci-fi film franchise.

"Hopefully my man @JohnBoyega will truly shine in IX and the Finn character will be shown as the badass hero I've been waiting for him to be since VII," the fan wrote, adding, "...and hopefully he'll wield a saber again."

"We've got you in this one bro! TRUST me!" Boyega responded, but it's not clear which part in the fan's tweet he's referring to. Some people, however, have suggested that the actor hinted Finn would be wielding a lightsaber again in "Episode IX".

Finn first got his hand on a lightsaber in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and used it during a duel with Adam Driver's Kylo Ren, but he's not the destined Jedi despite some promo materials which hinted so. Instead, it's Daisy Ridley's Rey who is taking this big role in the saga.

"Episode IX" is scheduled to hit theaters on December 20, 2019. Besides Boyega, Ridley and Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd and Mark Hamill are expected to return for the ninth "Star Wars" film. Princess Leia Organa, who was portrayed by late actress Carrie Fisher, will also be featured in the movie with unused footage from 2015's "The Force Awakens".

Meanwhile, Boyega has teased that Finn and Rey, who spent most of the time apart in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", wouldn't be separated from each other in the upcoming movie. "I haven't read the script for 'Episode 9'. But Daisy did shoot me a text saying, 'Oh my gosh, I just heard from J.J. [Abrams], and we're back together.' That's what I'm really excited about, is Finn and Rey back together again," he said back in April. "I think it's going to be all-out war in this final chapter, so we need to be prepared."

Abrams is back to serve behind the lens after helming "The Force Awakens", but handing over the duty to Rian Johnson in "The Last Jedi". Keri Russell, Matt Smith and Richard E. Grant are joining the cast in undisclosed roles.
