Celebrating First Responders Day, the 'White Boy Rick' actor serves turkeys and bourbon at the Houston Police Department and the Houston Fire Department.

AceShowbiz - Matthew McConaughey is reaping from his good deed. On Sunday, October 28, the "Dallas Buyers Club" star found himself showered with praises from his Twitter followers after he made a surprise visit to the Houston Police Department and the Houston Fire Department and served officers with a lunch.

The 48-year-old's simple act of giving back got many responded with gratitude. One fan wrote, "Thank you Sir! 1st responders don't do their job for glory, but rather to help others. The fact that you recognized members of the HPD, meant a lot to them I'm sure! You're definitely one of the good guys." Another Twitter user gushed, "McConaughey, could you be any more of an amazing human being. :)"

Jordon Leigh, in particular, pointed out McConaughey's thoughtfulness was the reason he becomes a fan. "This is exactly why I have remained a huge admirer of your acting work and hold an even larger admiration and respect for you as a wonderful human being!!" he tweeted. "Keep up the marvelous work and Just Keep Livin', my friend! Kudos!!!"

McConaughey joined forces with Bourbon maker Wild Turkey for a second year in a row. After passing out frozen turkeys for Thanksgiving in Kentucky last year, the Academy Award winner brought the "turkey feasts" to the police officers, firefighters, 911 dispatchers and emergency room doctors and nurses this year to thank them for their services during Hurricane Harvey.

Explaining the give-back effort, the husband of Camila Alves said in a video, "Basically today is about saying thank you to these people that were all on the front line and got out there to rescue people first. We're dropping off a turkey and maybe slipping them some bourbon as well." He posted the video on Facebook along with a caption that read, "Giving back to Houston's heroes #WildTurkeyGivesBack #ad."

McConaughey was also joined by Mayor Sylvester Turner at the event. The current Mayor of Houston, Texas later expressed his gratitude to the Hollywood star on Twitter. "Honored to welcome [McConaughey] to our city and thank him for spending time and recognizing our @houstonpolice, @HoustonFire, and 911 dispatchers for their service," he wrote.

The Houston mayor wasn't the only official thanking McConaughey for the appreciation lunch. A few hours after the visit, Houston Police also shared pictures of them with the "White Boy Rick" actor along with a caption that read, "Thank you #WildTurkeyGivesBack and @McConaughey for bringing a turkey lunch to our officers for #FirstRespondersDay #relationalpolicing."
