The disgraced star of 'The Cosby Show', who has been sentenced to jail for his sexual assault case, is seeking to dismiss the legal fees suit launched by Philadelphia-based firm.

AceShowbiz - Disgraced actor and comedian Bill Cosby is seeking to dismiss a lawsuit his former lawyers have launched against him over legal fees.

Officials at Philadelphia-based firm Schnader, Harrison, Segal, and Lewis sued the imprisoned "The Cosby Show" star last month, claiming he owes them $282,000 (£220,000), plus interest, for legal services they performed from the beginning of 2016.

According to The Blast, Cosby is now accusing his former lawyers of fraud, insisting he didn't authorise the lawyers at the firm to perform legal work "totaling $183,000 over the short period of two months."

"By Plaintiff's own admission, Plaintiff served as Cosby's counsel of record and Attorney (Thomas) Mesereau served as lead criminal defense counsel," his motion reads. "Consequently, the overwhelming majority of the legal work was performed by Mr. Mesereau and his team."

"Any alleged legal work performed was unnecessary, duplicative of work performed by lead counsel, inflated and therefore unauthorized and inappropriate. Proof to the contrary is specifically demanded."

Earlier this year, Cosby was found guilty on all three counts of aggravated indecent assault at the end of a second trial linked to the rape of former Temple University staff member Andrea Constand, and he was sentenced to serve three to 10 years in state prison last month.
