The father of the Duchess of Sussex recalls in a new interview the time he found out that his estranged daughter and Prince Harry announced they are expecting their first child.

AceShowbiz - Thomas Markle is "filled with love" after finding out his daughter, Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, is expecting her first child.
The retired TV lighting director is estranged from the former "Suits" star after making several negative comments in interviews prior to her wedding to Prince Harry back in May.
Accordingly, Thomas has revealed in a new interview with U.K. newspaper The Mail on Sunday that he found out Meghan was pregnant while listening to the radio in his car.
"I was sitting in line waiting to cross the border when I heard the baby announcement on the car radio," he said. "The first thing I thought about was holding Meghan in my arms as a newborn 37 years ago. I thought, 'My baby is having a baby.' It was a very proud moment."
A spokesperson for Kensington Palace announced Meghan's pregnancy on Monday, October 15, shortly after she and Harry arrived in Australia for their first official royal tour together.
Thomas blamed a "misunderstanding" on falling out with his daughter and his new son-in-law, and despite the controversial comments he has made about Meghan, the father-of-three is still excited about the impending bundle of joy.
Describing the moment he found out, the 74-year-old recalled: "I was filled with love, joy, and happiness for both my beautiful daughter and my son-in-law. A new baby is a blessing and I look forward to seeing a little Meghan or a little Harry."
While Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, was included in Kensington Palace's official statement on the couple's happy news, there were no comments from Thomas.
"Me not getting a call is most likely a misunderstanding about my two back-to-back heart attacks and me missing the wedding," he explained. "There has been so much misinformation and lies that perhaps made them mistrust me."
And while he previously claimed his daughter was "terrified" over her marriage to Harry, Thomas brushed aside his bad feelings and declared Meghan will make a "fantastic" mother.
"I'm delighted for them both. She's always been wonderful with children and most of her friends have families so she's used to being around kids. I love my daughter and always will. She will be a great mom. I wish her and Harry nothing but the best," he gushed.
