The Brazilian supermodel lays bare her reaction to her then-boyfriend's revelation that his ex, Bridget Moynahan, was pregnant with his child in new memoir 'Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life'.

AceShowbiz - Supermodel Gisele Bundchen's world turned "upside down" when she learned her new boyfriend's ex was pregnant.
The Brazilian beauty and American football star Tom Brady started dating in 2007, just before the athlete discovered his former girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan, was expecting their child.
"Two months into our relationship, Tom told me that his ex-girlfriend was pregnant," Gisele writes in her memoir "Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life". "The very next day the news was everywhere, and I felt my world had been turned upside down."
Gisele admits the situation was not ideal and it took her a while to adjust, but she's glad she stuck it out and became an instant stepmom.
"It wasn't the ideal situation for anyone; there's no manual to prepare you for that," she tells People magazine. "But I'm so grateful for her (Bridget). I know this was hard, but I couldn't imagine my life without him (son Jack). I call him my bonus child."
The 38-year-old's relationship with Jack also made her "want to start a family" with Tom sooner than they had planned.
"He opened my heart in ways I didn't even know my heart could expand," she writes. "I fell in love with him. We wanted Jack to have a brother or sister close in age."
But motherhood was tough on Gisele at first.
"I kind of lost myself. It was like a part of me died," she revealed last month. "I'd been this very independent person. It was all about me. But now I had this little being, and I suddenly felt I couldn't do other things and that was very hard for me. All I ever wanted was to be a mom, but when you're actually experiencing that, it's a shock."
