AceShowbiz - Netflix doesn't show any sign of slowing down with genre TV shows. The streaming giant has just announced that it has ordered three new sci-fi series "The I-Land", "October Faction" and "Warrior Nun".

"The I-Land" is a new sci-fi action adventure series hailing from Neil LaBute. It follows ten people who wake up on a treacherous island with no memory of who they are or how they got there. They set off on a trek to try to get back home. They soon discover this world is not as it seems. Faced with the island's extreme psychological and physical challenges, they must rise to their better selves -- or die as their worst ones.

LaBute, acclaimed playwright and director of "Wicker Man", will serve as writer, director, and showrunner of the 7-part series. Also writing the series is Lucy Teitler, with Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev executive producing. Teitler will aso co-executive produce alongside Jonathan Scarfe, who directs the series.

Meanwhile, "October Faction" is a 10-episode series based on the IDW comic book series by Steve Niles of the same name. It centers "globetrotting monster hunters Fred and Deloris Allen who, after the death of Fred’s father, return to their hometown in upstate New York with their teenage children Geoff and Viv. As the family adjusts, Fred and Deloris must hide their identities as members of a secret organization, and our heroes quickly discover that their new small-town setting isn't as idyllic as it seems."

Damian Kindler ("Sanctuary"), who creates the series, has been tapped to direct and serve as executive producer and showrunner. He will also direct along with Director X, Megan Follows, and David Frazee. Meanwhile, Niles, James Thorpe, Thomas Walden and Eric Birnberg will executive produce, with George Strayton and Melissa Blake co-executive producing.

Inspired by the Manga novels, "Warrior Nun" revolves around "a 19 year-old woman who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She discovers she is now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her."

Simon Barry is attached as showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the 10-episode series. Joining as executive producer is Stephen Hegyes while Teri Hughes Burton is co-executive producing.

The three new shows will join Netflix's growing sci-fi lineup that includes "The Order", "Wu Assassins", "Locke & Key", "V Wars" and "Another Life".
