Arrowverse Crossover Announces Title, Unveils First Look at Gotham in First Poster

The annual crossover event, which is now titled 'Elseworlds', has added LaMonica Garrett as The Monitor.

AceShowbiz - The 2018 Arrowverse crossover event will take fans to the "Elseworlds". The CW's annual event has announced "Elseworlds" as its title. In addition, the 3-night event has unearthed its first poster that features a Wayne Tower Easter egg, much to fans' excitement.

Fans of DC Comics must have been familiar with the word "Elseworld". It is the name of an imprint that ran from 1989 until 2010, bringing new twists to familiar DC characters and presenting them in alternative scenarios.

The first official Elseworlds story was 1989's "Gotham By Gaslight", which followed the story of a Victorian-era Batman who battled Jack the Ripper in Gotham City. Some notable stories from Elseworlds include 1996's "Kingdom Come", "JLA: The Nail" and "Wonder Woman: Amazonia".

Meanwhile, the first poster of the upcoming TV event reveals the first look at Gotham, in which the new story will be taking place. The poster sees the Batwoman symbol, instead of Batman's symbol, shining in the sky. In addition, fans can spot Wayne Tower standing tall in the center of the new image.

It is also announced that LaMonica Garrett ("Designated Survivor") has been added to the cast fo the upcoming crossover event feature The CW's popular superheroes Arrow, Supergirl and The Flash. Garrett has been tapped to take on the role of DC Comics character The Monitor. Also known as Mar Novu, the character is described as "an extraterrestrial being of infinite power known as the Monitor."

The Monitor was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez for iconic continuity-altering crossover "Crisis on Infinite Earths". The character was an alien who was in charge of watching over the multiverse.

Garrett will be joining Jeremy Davie, Cassandra Jean Amell, Elizabeth Tulloch and Ruby Rose. Davie is set to portray a doctor at Arkham Asylum named Dr. John Deegan, while Amell will portray Nora Fries, the wife of Victor Fries a.k.a. Batman villain Mister Freeze. Tulloch will portray Lois Lane with Rose taking on the role of Batwoman.

This year's crossover is set to begin on Sunday, December 9 with "The Flash" at 8 P.M. It will later be followed by an "Arrow" episode on Monday, December 10 at 8 P.M. "Supergirl" will conclude on the following night at 8 P.M. on The CW.
